Ebay deliveries making the most of them

Thanks to John Kenworthy for suggesting this topic.
The problem with Ebay deliveries is cost.

As a courier company, we have all the insurances required to deliver the goods professionally and we also act ethically (we pay our drivers at least minimum wage, and have sensible driving hours). We also have to factor in the cost of the fuel, which we all know isn’t cheap these days, but its definitely cheaper than what a litre of bottled water costs!

Then we have the goods to be delivered, a lawnmower for example to go from Southampton the Glasgow…you give them the quote and there is silence…….”thats too expensive” comes the reply when they have recovered. So I ask, what do you think is reasonable then?
“£20″
Nope, sorry, that doesn’t even cover the fuel let alone anything else…

But there are some clued up people there, they know that the Royal Mail only insures to the value of £2.5k, so when they win high value items, they understand the value of the courier.
We have recently delivered antiques, wine, dining room furniture, complete kitchens and a 65 million year old fossil. All safely and securely.

Next time you need something delivered that you have bought cheaply, think about the delivery aspect of it, and what would happen if you decided that its cheaper to use an uninsured courier who then damaged your precious items?
Is it really better to hire a van and take the day off to do it yourself?
Or, get a cowboy to do the job?

What about sellers, how do they go about the delivery side of things?

Did you know

a professional courier company can deliver easily out of hours, meaning your customer doesn’t have to take the day off of work?
That if you use a courier who tracks their vehicles, you have less failed deliveries?
Some couriers have systems that allow an email to be sent to the customer when they driver reaches their post code area….
The effective use of Sat Nav Technology means we can find you, without the need for complex directions.
If you plan effectively, you can keep the delivery of large items to just £50+vat anywhere in England and Wales, on a dedicated vehicle (no breakages like the pallet networks, no foot prints on the packaging like the parcel networks) no failed deliveries if we route it for you.

Plan your ebay deliveries but be realistic, cover fuel, minimum wage, insurances and distance travelled then you can work out the best deal.
